Jesus, the Bread of Life. What are you feeding your soul?

Dear Friend,

What are you feeding your soul?

We live in a world where everyone is hungry—hungry for success, for fulfillment, for meaning. But no matter how much we consume—money, recognition, relationships, even good things like education or career achievements—there’s still a lingering emptiness inside.

Jesus speaks directly to this hunger:

“I am the Bread of Life. Whoever comes to Me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in Me will never be thirsty.”
(John 6:35, NIV)

Jesus is saying He is the only thing that will truly satisfy the hunger of our souls.

A Journey Through Scripture: Bread That Truly Satisfies

1. Manna in the Wilderness: Temporary Bread
The Israelites were once physically hungry as they wandered in the wilderness, and God provided manna from heaven—a miraculous bread that appeared each morning. But there was a problem:

Exodus 16:4“I will rain down bread from heaven for you.”

Yet, this bread only lasted for a day—they had to gather it daily, and it couldn’t sustain them forever.

Jesus later tells us that He is the true Bread from heaven—not one that perishes, but one that gives eternal life. (John 6)

2. The Feeding of the 5,000: More Than Just Physical Food
When Jesus took five loaves and two fish and fed thousands of people, it was more than a miracle of abundance—it was a sign pointing to something greater.

Matthew 14:19-20 – The bread multiplied, and there were leftovers—a symbol of Jesus’ abundant, never-ending provision.

But Jesus tells them:
“Do not work for food that perishes, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you.” (John 6:27, NIV)

Are we spending our lives chasing temporary food, or are we seeking the Bread that endures forever?

3. The Last Supper: The Bread That Becomes Life
The night before He went to the cross, Jesus took bread and broke it, giving it a new meaning:

Luke 22:19“This is My body, which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.”

Jesus was no longer just talking about physical bread—He was pointing to His own sacrifice.

The true Bread of Life isn’t something we earn or work for—it’s a gift, given freely by Jesus through His death and resurrection.

4. The Eternal Feast: A Future with Christ
The story doesn’t end at the cross. Jesus invites us to an eternal feast in His presence.

Revelation 19:9“Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb!”

One day, we will dine with Him forever, completely satisfied in His presence.

What a promise! What a hope!

What Does This Mean for You?

As we celebrate Easter, let’s ask ourselves:

  • What am I feeding my soul with? Am I filling my life with things that fade away, or am I feeding on Jesus, the true Bread?
  • Do I truly hunger for God? Or have I allowed temporary distractions to dull my appetite for the things of God?
  • Who around me is starving for the truth? How can I share the Bread of Life with someone else this week?

A Personal Invitation

Friend, Jesus is the answer, not an option. He alone satisfies.

This Easter, will you choose to feast on what truly lasts?

Come, take and eat.
The Bread of Life is waiting.

With love and grace,
Eric
