Today’s devotional is titled, Press On. Move On: Praise be to God for His amazing love towards us. Our constant longing and pursuit should be growth in this spiritual journey.
I encourage you to press on and move forward in your faith.
The Bible says in Hebrews 6:1 (NKJV), “Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God.”

Since by the grace of God you have been raised to a new life with Christ, I encourage you, dear reader, to set your eyes on the realities of heaven, where, as the Scripture says, Christ sits in the place of honour at God’s right hand.
I urge you to think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. You may wonder how to do this. Take note of these steps:
- Put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you.
- Have nothing to do with sexual immorality, impurity, lust, and evil desires.
- Don’t be greedy, for a greedy person is an idolater, worshipping the things of this world.
You used to do these things when your life was still part of this world. But now is the time to:
- Get rid of:
- Anger
- Rage,
- Malicious behaviour,
- Slander, and
- Dirty language.
- Don’t lie, for you have stripped off your old sinful nature and all its wicked deeds.
Instead:
- Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know Christ more and become like Him.
- In this new life, Christ is all that matters, and He lives in all of us.
Since God chose you to be one of the people He loves, you must clothe yourself with:
- Tenderhearted mercy,
- Kindness,
- Humility,
- Gentleness, and patience.
- Make allowance for others’ faults, and Forgive anyone who offends you.
- Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.
- Above all, clothe yourself with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony.
- Let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts.
- And always be thankful.
- Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives.
A Personal Story
I once thought that the things of this world, with all its goodies, brought satisfaction and were valuable. But now I consider them worthless because of what Christ has done.
Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus, my Lord.
For Christ’s sake, I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ and become one with Him. I no longer count on my own righteousness through obeying do’s and don’ts; rather, I become righteous through faith in Christ.
Dear reader, always know that God’s way of making us right with Himself depends on our faith.
Let me hasten to add that I don’t mean to say that I have already achieved all things or that I have already reached perfection.
Like the apostle Paul, I always seek to press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first saved me.
I also aim and focus on this one thing: Forgetting everything about the past life I’ve lived and constantly looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling you and me. – Philippians 3:7-9, 12-14.
The Journey of Faith
The journey of your newfound faith in Christ Jesus won’t always be a smooth ride, but one thing I can assure you is that God will never leave you nor forsake you. The work of the cross won’t be in vain in your life.
Have faith in God. Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it becomes the evidence of things we cannot see. The people in the days of old, as shown in the Bible, earned a good reputation through their absolute faith. – Hebrews 11:1-2 (NLT)
These great people of the Bible serve as witnesses to the life of faith, giving us all a blueprint to follow:
- stripping off every weight that will slow us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up.
- They also showed us through the lives they lived that in this run with our Lord Jesus, we will need endurance to finish it successfully. – Hebrews 12:1 (NLT)
Look Unto Jesus
Just look unto Jesus, who is the author and finisher of our faith. Be purposeful in pursuing Christ by:
- Praying daily for renewed strength and for mercy from God, and
- Reading the Bible, the sure manual that will help you navigate through this journey.
Jesus Christ has truly set us free. Now make sure that you stay free and don’t get tied up again in slavery to sin. – Galatians 5:1
Press on because we have a great God that lives within us! Move on because you are sure to win with Christ on your side.
Till we connect again, keep the faith! God bless you!
