Manna Moments: Jesus, the Resurrection and the Life. (Reflections for Civic Holiday – August 4, 2025)

Dear Friend,

Is death the end? One question lingers: What happens after we die?

Jesus gives an answer that changes everything:

“I am the Resurrection and the Life. The one who believes in Me will live, even though they die.” (John 11:25, NIV)

This is a beautiful promise of eternal life that begins right now.

A Journey Through Scripture: Victory Over Death

1. The Power of Resurrection in the Old Testament: Even before Jesus came, God showed His power over death. 1 Kings 17:22 – Elijah prayed, and a child was brought back to life. These moments were a loving glimpse of the greater resurrection to come.

2. Jesus Proves His Authority Over Death. Before conquering His own grave, Jesus raised others. John 11:43 – “Lazarus, come out!” The world tells us death is final. But Jesus proves it is not.

3. The Empty Tomb: The Ultimate Victory. The greatest moment in history was when Jesus Himself rose from the dead. Matthew 28:6 – “He is not here; He has risen!” His resurrection is the very foundation of our faith. Without it, we have no hope.

4. The Promise of Our Future Resurrection. Jesus’ resurrection guarantees ours. Romans 8:11 – “The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead will give life to your mortal bodies.” Death does not have the final say for those who are in Christ.

5. The Final Resurrection: No More Death. One day, all who belong to Jesus will rise to eternal life. Revelation 21:4 – “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death.” Because Jesus rose, we will rise too.

What Does This Mean for You?

This Civic Holiday, as you take time to rest and reflect, I invite you to consider these questions:

  • Do I believe in Jesus not only as the Resurrection but as my daily source of Life?
  • Am I living in the power of His resurrection, or am I weighed down by fear?
  • How does my hope in eternal life shape the way I live today?

A Personal Invitation

My dear friend, Jesus is alive. Because He lives, we can have eternal life too.

This month, will you place your hope in the One who lovingly defeated death?

Rejoicing in the life He gives,

Eric
