Manna Moments. Dear Friend, Where do you find your light? In Canada, Victoria Day marks the beginning of longer days, warmer nights, and celebrations filled with fireworks and bright displays. But have you ever noticed how quickly fireworks fade into darkness?
Jesus offers a light that never fades:
“I am the Light of the World. Whoever follows Me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.” – (John 8:12, NIV)
The light that illuminates and also transforms. Jesus, the way, showing us the Way.
A Journey Through Scripture: The Light That Shines in Darkness
1. Light in Creation: The First Spoken Word
Before anything else existed, God spoke one thing first:
- Genesis 1:3 – “Let there be light.”
- Physical light was the beginning of life itself—and Jesus, as the true Light, brings spiritual life to us.
2. The Prophecy of a Light to Come
Hundreds of years before Christ, the prophet Isaiah spoke of a Light that would pierce the world’s darkness:
- Isaiah 9:2 – “The people walking in darkness have seen a great light.”
- This was a direct prophecy of Jesus, who would bring hope to the hopeless and sight to the blind.
3. Jesus, the Light That Cannot Be Overcome
When Jesus came, darkness could not stand before Him:
- John 1:4-5 – “In Him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
- No amount of sin, fear, or despair can put out His light. Where Jesus is, darkness flees.
4. The Call to Shine His Light
Jesus doesn’t just call us to receive the Light—He calls us to reflect it:
- Matthew 5:14-16 – “You are the light of the world… let your light shine before others.”
- Just as fireworks light up the night, our lives should illuminate the world with the truth of Christ.
5. The Future Light: No More Night
One day, there will be no more need for the sun—because Jesus Himself will be our eternal Light:
- Revelation 21:23 – “The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light.”
- In His presence, there is no darkness, no pain, no fear—only everlasting Light.
What Does This Mean for You?
As we celebrate Victoria Day, think about these questions:
- What is the source of my light? Do I rely on Jesus, or on things that will eventually fade?
- Am I reflecting Christ’s light in my life? Do people see hope, truth, and joy when they see me?
- How can I shine brighter? Where can I bring God’s light to someone struggling in darkness?

Friend, Jesus is the Light that never goes out. The world’s light flickers and fades, but His light remains forever.
This month, will you step out of the shadows and into His marvelous Light?
