Walking God’s Path – Getting It Right

Walking God's Path

Walking God’s path is a journey of faith that requires both passion and precision. Getting it right means aligning our hearts and actions with God’s truth as revealed in His Word. In a world filled with competing voices, the story of Apollos in Acts 18:26 reminds us of the importance of humbly seeking accurate understanding to ensure we are truly following God’s way. Inspired by the Water and Bread of Life Ministry, this devotional encourages us to pursue God’s path with diligence and openness to correction.

“So he began to speak boldly in the synagogue. When Aquila and Priscilla heard him, they took him aside and explained to him the way of God more accurately.” – Acts 18:26 (NKJV)

Lots of people genuinely want to follow God, and that’s wonderful. But just wanting to isn’t enough; we need to make sure we’re actually on God’s path. Apollos was a passionate preacher about Jesus, but Aquila and Priscilla noticed his understanding needed some fine-tuning. They kindly helped him see things more clearly so he could truly follow God’s path.

The example of Apollos, a fervent preacher, shows us that zeal for God is only part of the equation. Aquila and Priscilla, through their gentle guidance, helped him refine his understanding of the gospel. Their intervention highlights the value of Bible study and community in ensuring we are walking God’s path correctly.

The Water and Bread of Life Ministry emphasises that regular engagement with Scripture is essential for discerning God’s truth. As Psalm 119:105 declares, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” Without the clarity of God’s Word, we risk straying into paths that seem right but lead us astray.

To stay on course, we must commit to consistent Bible study, seeking wisdom from trusted Christian communities like the Water and Bread of Life Ministry. This involves not only reading Scripture but also being open to correction and growth, as Apollos was.

Humility is key—acknowledging that our understanding may need adjustment allows us to grow closer to God’s truth. By grounding our faith in Scripture and rejecting worldly ideas that contradict it, we ensure that our walk with God is both authentic and transformative.

Why Getting It Right Matters in Our Faith

It’s good to be sincere, but what’s true is what counts. Many people think they’re following God, but they might just be following old habits, feelings, or what other people think.

Proverbs 14:12 tells us, “There is a way which seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.”

Just because something feels right to us doesn’t mean it’s God’s way. We need to be careful not to trust our gut feelings alone regarding faith.

God’s path is laid out in his Word, the Bible. If we don’t really dig into Scripture, we risk building our faith on what’s popular, other people’s opinions, or even just what we want to believe.

Think of it like trying to follow a map—if you don’t look at the actual map, you’ll likely get lost.

Are You Really on the Right Path?

Ask yourself these honest questions:

How to Walk the True Path

To make sure we’re on God’s path and not just our ideas, we need to:

Your Challenge for This Week

  1. Spend some time studying a Bible teaching that you find confusing or haven’t looked into deeply before.
  2. Ask God to show you any areas in your life where you might be off track and need to align more closely with His way.
  3. Be open and ready to learn and make changes when God points something out to you.

The ultimate goal of following God’s path is to get it right. Seek His truth and live by it!
