The Power Of Faith In God

The Power Of Faith In God

Today’s Devotional by WBL Ministry is titled The Power Of Faith In God. Science and Philosophy have been and are still an integral part of decision-making and shaping of thoughts in contemporary times. Knowledge of Science and its application is very important for one to live in this present world.

The Power Of Faith In God

Science is great, but the Power of God supersedes it. As believers of God, the Power as of old is still fresh and more effective even in this time.

Elisha and the Floating Iron:

Elisha, a prophet of God, was pressed upon by his servant to move from one location to a more comfortable place which he was obliged to do.

The only tool they had to cut wood to build; the axe, lost its head into a nearby river.

The Bible says in 2 Kings 6:6, The Bible reading for this write up, that “And the man of God said where fell it? And he showed him the place. And he cut down a stick, and cast it in thither, and the iron did swim.”

Wait a minute, THE IRON DID SWIM!! This defies Science, specifically the Archimedes Principle of Floatation which states that ‘when a piece of wood of density more than water is placed on water, it sinks and displaces some water’.

That is the Power of God at work.

David and Goliath:

The Israelites and the Philistines were at war. Goliath, a champion among the Philistines, stood up and boasted of his strength and ridiculed the Israelites, asking them to get someone to face him in a one-on-one fight.

When Saul, King of Israel, and his men heard those words they were greatly afraid.

A detailed description of Goliath is in 1 Samuel 17:4-7, and of a truth; looking at his physical stature is enough reason to be afraid. Goliath tormented them for forty days without any answer or reply.

A young man called David was sent to take food to his brothers who were on the battlefield and he heard Goliath in his usual ranting.

David decided to face him in the fight. He rejected the armour Saul offered and went with a sling and five smooth stones (pebbles).

When any human being makes analyses of this action by David, it can best be described as a suicide mission, taking into consideration; that those stones were not even enough to kill an animal.

The Bible, however, says in Isaiah 55:8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.”

Yes, David had the sling and stones ready for battle, but his confidence was not in his weapon but in God.

He couldn’t comprehend the fact that someone could blaspheme the name of His God and walk away freely.

David made it expressly clear to Goliath that “Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied. (1 Samuel 17:45 KJV).

He got the needed victory, and it was from a simple shot of a stone that hit the only opening in his armour, proving to us that the name of the Lord is a strong tower, and the righteous run to it and are safe.

In Part 2, we will delve into more stories of great faith and miracles to reinforce the message of faith in God.
