  1. Renewal of Strength

Practical Examples of Waiting on God

  1. Abraham and Sarah: Abraham and Sarah waited many years for the fulfillment of God’s promise to give them a son. Despite their old age and moments of doubt, their faith in God’s promise was eventually rewarded with the birth of Isaac. This story shows the importance of patience and trust in God’s timing (Genesis 21:1-3).
  2. David: Anointed as king in his youth, David had to wait many years before he actually ascended to the throne. During this time, he faced numerous challenges, including being pursued by King Saul. Despite these difficulties, David’s faith and trust in God’s plan never wavered, and he was ultimately rewarded for his patience (1 Samuel 16:13, 2 Samuel 5:4).
  3. Jesus in the Wilderness: Before beginning His public ministry, Jesus spent 40 days in the wilderness fasting and waiting on God. This period of waiting prepared Him for the mission ahead and strengthened His reliance on God (Matthew 4:1-11).
  4. The Early Church: After Jesus ascended to heaven, the disciples waited in Jerusalem for the Holy Spirit as Jesus had instructed them. Their obedience and patience were rewarded on the day of Pentecost when they were filled with the Holy Spirit and empowered to spread the gospel (Acts 1:4, Acts 2:1-4).

Conclusion

Waiting on God is an active expression of our faith and trust in His perfect timing. It’s not just about being patient but about growing closer to Him and being transformed in the process. 

As we wait, God:

  • strengthens us, 
  • rescues us, and 
  • shows us His goodness in ways we might not understand right away. 

Through waiting, we experience His blessings and become more aligned with His plans for our lives.
