Talents That Match Your Ability: Exploring Your Talents

God delivers Gifts according to everyone’s ability. This is espoused in the parable of Talents in Matthew 25:14-29.

Three servants were given talents when their master was travelling, with the expectation of earning more on his return. One servant received five (5), another two (2) and the other, one (1).

The Bible says “he who had received the five talents went and traded with them and made another five. And likewise, he who had received two gained two more also. But he who had received one went and dug in the ground and hid his lord’s money.”

Two of the servants doubled what they got. They received their master’s commendation when he returned. The other that hid his was condemned and he lost the one (1) he had.

The parable extends beyond just financial investment. It will be appropriate to identify the ‘Talents’ as ability, time, money, power, capability etc.

The first two servants explored ways to utilize their talents. It isn’t clear what they specifically did. They could have loaned it for interest, traded with it etc. but successfully fulfilled their master’s mandate on time and with perseverance.
