Today’s devotional is titled Arise and Shine. Watching a mother teach her young child to walk, I witnessed how the child tried to walk, fell, and tried again until he became discouraged and refused to try again. This experience made me realize that life is a journey filled with many obstacles, and only those who respond to God’s encouraging words, “Arise and walk again,” can achieve success.

Life has many pitfalls that can discourage us, whether spiritually, physically, or socially. But we have a loving Father who calls our name from above to arise and walk again. Maybe you were once a Christian, but you fell into sin and believe that the Father won’t forgive you. But in Matthew 11:28, Jesus says, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

Spiritual Discouragement: The Prodigal Son

The parable of the prodigal son in Luke 15:11-24 illustrates how our heavenly Father behaves toward those who fall into sin but rise again. The prodigal son realized his mistake, returned to his father, confessed his sins, and was forgiven.

We should not contemplate whether God will forgive us or not, but we should believe His word and arise from the dungeon of sin. As you read this, take a bold step of faith and rise into the glory that is raised upon you. In Isaiah 60:1, God says, “Arise and shine for thy light is come.”

David, according to 1 Samuel 30:1-21, also recovered all his lost possessions from his enemies. He was able to recover everything he lost by encouraging himself in the Lord and following His directive to “pursue and recover all.”

So forget all that you have lost and turn to God in prayer. There is a recovery plan for you to arise and shine again. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the light, and no one can come to the Father except through Him. Acknowledge your sins, repent, and believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved!
