Story On God’s Amazing Grace

This is a story of a man whose life attests to God’s ability to save the chiefest of sinners. His parents separated when he was only two years old, and by the time he was eleven, he had already learned how to smoke cigarettes and pickpockets. He stole money to go to the theatre and buy alcohol, and cigarettes, among others. He was out of control, leaving home for days only to return when he wanted to. His father was fed up and took him to the Reformatory twice, thinking it would bring about a change. Instead, he grew worse.

He was admitted to a boarding school at the age of twelve, but instead of changing for the better, he met other boys whose influence had a worse degenerating effect on his life. He learned to take marijuana and other drugs and soon became a drug addict. He became a terror to everyone around him, including his principal, teachers, and seniors at school. As a result of his lifestyle, he had to change schools twice, which means he attended three schools to complete a five-year high school course.

The principal of the last school he attended suffered much from his diabolical activities. He was so wicked that he was responsible for the principal’s demotion from principal to an ordinary classroom teacher. By the time he was twenty-six years old, he had become so perverted, corrupt, and wicked that everyone who knew him was afraid of him. He had become a slave to cigarettes, alcohol, women, marijuana, and other dangerous drugs.

But God, in His infinite mercy and by His amazing grace, did not allow him to sink further into the ruins of sin. He could have gone mad or died, but God kept him alive and sane despite his wickedness. One day, he had an encounter with Jesus Christ. He was invited to a Christian camp meeting and decided to attend. The meeting was attended by thousands of people, and the officials at the entrance were most polite and very friendly. None of them challenged him for coming into such a place with his cigarette lit. They left him to his conscience.

As soon as he entered, he threw away his cigarette and went to sit in front of the tent, curiously watching all that was going on. He was not at all enthusiastic, and he had planned not to stay too long. He had always thought of religion, especially the serious type, as more or less “rubbish.” He did not know what salvation from sin is all about.

A man climbed the rostrum and began to preach in such a way as he had never heard before. During the sermon, the preacher pointed in his direction and said, “My sinner friend, you have got to repent today.” He was angry and thought to himself, “Why should he call me a sinner? I’m as good as anybody else.” But the preacher began to quote scripture after scripture after scripture. For the first time in his life, he realized he was a sinner, that his soul was bound for hell, and that he needed a saviour.

The preacher’s words about sin and judgment made him imagine himself in hell, and he couldn’t shake the thought from his mind.

As the sermon drew to a close, the preacher quoted a passage of Scripture that spoke to him. Suddenly, he realized that he was a sinner in need of God’s love and forgiveness. Without hesitation, he made his way to the front of the church to surrender his life to Jesus.

That night, he went home and couldn’t sleep. Overwhelmed with emotion, he fell to his knees and wept, begging God to forgive him for his sins. He cried for hours, and by the time he finally fell asleep, his pillow was soaked with tears.

When he woke up the next morning, everything had changed. The weight of condemnation had lifted, and he felt a sense of peace and assurance he had never known before. The urge to smoke, drink, and use drugs had disappeared, and he knew that he had been transformed by the grace of God.

From that day forward, his life took on new meaning and purpose. He became a different person, and everyone around him was amazed by the change they saw in him. He was grateful for his new Christian friends, who patiently answered his questions and helped him understand his new faith.

Today, he lives to serve Jesus, who has become the hero of his life and the Lord of his heart. He knows that he has been saved by God’s amazing grace, and he wants everyone to know that they can experience the same transformation he did.
